Ron, I just got off the phone with Icom and they confirm that the charger
supplied with the radio does NOT output any current once the battery has
been charged and the green LED turns off. I'll trust them on that.

    Bob,

First, I am referring to the drop-in charger that comes with the radio. If
you think it can't damage the battery, you are "dead" {;^)) wrong. The
aviation and marine marketing manager for ICOM sent me an email emphasizing
that I not overcharge the battery. He says not to leave the battery in the
charger. If you are talking about the more expensive desktop charger which I
think can handle multiple batteries, then I plead ignorance.

Under no conditions should you leave the battery in the charger past the
time limits in the manual. Why do you think they are there? It's silly with
today's technology to have to time the charge, but that's it.

    | Ron, actually Icom's charger for the M-88 (a desktop drop-in style) fully
    | shuts off its charging circuit once it has charged the battery, so you
    need
    | not worry about it over-charging, won't happen.
