If you want to use a wireless remote you can buy one from Ramsey winch
for $49.00. I replaced the Warn winch on my dinghy davit this fall and
ordered the wireless remote. You can order kits for Warn and other
winches as well. It came with solenoids etc... I installed it in a
couple hours, it works great. The remote is like the keyless entry for
you car so you can carry it in your pocket.

I would like to add a handheld remote control to the winch/hoist on my
dinghy davit.
The current winch is a 12 volt Warn based product with a rotating
contactor switch
on the end of the motor where the two positive and negative leads come
in.
Twisting this switch one way or the other controls whether the winch
goes up or down.
I gather that adding a remote would involve one or more solenoids which
would be
mounted remotely from the winch itself and that a wired remote would
then control the
solenoids. As such, I have been looking at anchor winch control
products that I could adapt.
Does anyone have any specific suggestions?
