I have remoted one of these Warn winches. I used a pair of double contact
relays--you can use four single contact relays--and perhaps it will be
cheaper. I used continously rated 400 amp relays. These are relitatively
cheap. For the trigger circuit, I used a piece of PVC pipe, with end
caps--weather proof push buttons: up on one end, down on the other, and the 3
conductor cord fed out of the side--all sealed with silicone. An up or down
switch will work fine at the helm--double throw, center neutral, single pole,
spring loaded. I prefer to have a windlass switch which needs to be
constantly pushed, rather than leaving it engaged.
A slightly easier way is to use a West Marine dual direction control box
--page 717 current catalogue.
