T&T: Vacuum gauges

I have a single Racor 900 on each of my Cummins BT6's and thought about adding
a Racor vacuum guage on each in place of the T-handle. From what I'm gathering
that's not all that great an idea without some type of shut off....or is it an
acceptable option?
