    Would you not want to add a shutoff valve close to the filter? If for
    whatever reason the integrity of the line is lost I believe you would lose suction
    and draw air into the fuel system and also possibly spill fuel depending upon
    the relationship of filter to tank, etc.

    I agree that's a nice safety feature, but I decided not to because I figured
    the chance of the valve leaking outweighed the chance of the line
    leaking....Should the line leak, I can remove the hose at the filter and stick a dowel in
    it.
