Bob,
I'd first try to determine what's stuck.
There are several possibilities.
Will the flywheel move at all? Even a little bit.
If not the piston is probably stuck in the cylinder. If this is the case the
prop should move some as there will be enough slack in the gears of the
drive to allow this to happen.
If the prop won't even wiggle, then there is the possibility that the prop
shaft is bound up in its bearing. If this is the case then the flywheel,
which is connected directly to the crankshaft, should move a small amount
again because of the slack in the drive gearing.
If neither the prop or the flywheel will move the slightest, then it may be
seized in two places.
Since I'm not that familiar with the 3.5 Nissan, we do have a 4HP but it is
a 4 stroke, does it have a transmission? IE a lever that shifts
forward/neutral/reverse? Or is it a direct drive IE you crank it and it
goes. Turn the whole engine around for reverse?
If it has a tranny, then there are places there that could cause the
problem. But again the prop should move a bit even if the tranny is stuck.
Most of the gear slack is going to be in the bevel gears at the bottom of
the foot. These change the direction of rotation from vertical to
horizontal.
Rather than go thru the procedures for all the possibilities, check whether
the flywheel or prop will move at all and get back with us.
Good luck,
Bill
