Gee folks sorry to hear that. Maybe we just have had good luck but we're
currently using a Compaq laptop that's at least 7 years old. I believe its
running Win95, maybe 98SE. Not sure because all I ever do is turn it on,
leave it while it boots and when I come back the desktop is there. Turn on
the GPS and click Maptech Navigator and away we go.
I will say that when the battery went bad, probably about 3 years ago, we
did not replace it. The Presario has been running from its 120V adapter via
a Wal-Mart inverter ever since.
Its sitting up in the pilothouse right now where it will probably get around
22-25 degrees F tonight. Hope that doesn't kill it.
When you say it dies, what does it do? Not come up at all?
Good luck,
Bill
