We went through a major re-decorating of the saloon last winter, and ended up using a "boat decorator" - Annapolis Yacht Interiors. We were looking for seating with the comfort of a sofa and the storage of a setee, and they said "boat sofa". It's a boat or RV thing - and it's typically custom made to your specifications. We're not fancy kind of people, but the cost wasn't *that* much more than a good quality L-shaped sofa in a durable fabric.

We were able to choose the seat depth, the back cushion style (loose or tight), arms - size, shape, or lack thereof, and the back cushion height. We also chose the fabric. It turns out that the saloon corner angle is a tad greater than 90 degrees, so the decorator templated it.
All I can say is that the end result far exceeded our wildest expectations - the matching on the fabric along seams is a work of art, the sofa is very comfortable, and of course it fits the salon beautifully. We're delighted to have the extra storage, and we have something that will serve us well for a long time.

For chairs, we decided to go with the Ekornes "Stress-Less" chairs that you see in Scan and the Danish-style furniture stores. We've got two, and they fit in our DF49 saloon just fine. My website is hopelessly stale, but I have some pictures of the new furniture that will eventually find their way to the site. I can send them off-list if you like.

We're living aboard now, and are very happy with the investment we made in the new saloon furniture - the boat is our home, and we're as comfortable here (more so!) than we've ever been in a house.
