Dave was right on! We called AT&T and their "service" was $11.96 the first
minute, then $2.99 per minute from then on. We hung up and bought a $20
Batelco calling card which is a flat $.51 /minute.

visitors is to
avoid the "international" phones which mostly don't work and charge too
much, but go to the Batelco inside pay phone and dial 1-800-872-2881 which
accesses AT&T

Bahamas phone service or lack off, nothing to do with hurricanes, when we
were there last May it was the same.
Best deal is to get a phone card from the grocery store(the one near the
liquor store)and to go up the hill to Batelco office at Green Turtle.
Operator makes the connection, no problem mon.
