    Long befoer the tops of th eplates become uncovered you should add water.
    Distilled water is preferred since it does not contain any contaminants like
    chlorine.

    Oncedd the plates are exposed to air they dry out and the lead sulfate crystals
    harden to the point you cannot reverse them process by recharging.
    A thatpoint you have effectively cut off part of the plate as far as capacity
    goes.

    Weekly checks when the battery is in daily use and being cycled r3egularly is
    preferred. The amount of water used should be noted. Increased water
    consumption is an early warning of possible battery failure later on.
