As a matter of fact it does. Wear and tear on the magnetron is greater when it
is powered by a MSW inverter than if it is powered by real sine waves.
And even when it does get good grid power such asin a kitchen in a house on
land the microwave generator eventually wears and you get less power output.
We used to have the same problems with the old radar sets driven by magnetrons.
Eventually the unit would have to be swapped out and replacing the magnetron
was a ticklish business involving some fine tuning.
Nowadays they are pretty much a throwaway. Its cheaper to get another one (even
from West Marine ) than to repair the old unit.
Of course for the large units used on big ships its a different matter.
