    Forgive me if you've heard this story before, but one night I was entering
    the C&D Canal from Delaware Bay and talked to a conscientious pilot on the
    bridge of an approaching ship. Closing speed was slow and he could see my
    lights, but was unsure of a small sailboat off my port quarter. I had the
    sailboat close up on me and so advise the pilot. Whereupon the pilot took
    the ship hard right through Eastern designated anchorage area. Word of mouth
    had told me to only use the Northern anchorage area and then I knew why. The
    funny this is that there are pilings for larger vessel to tie to around the
    anchorage. That pilot must have been very confident! The vessel was riding
    high.
