Microwave ovens come in different power outputs - my home unit consumes 900 watts to produce 550 watts of "cooking power". It is one of the smaller, lower power home style units.
If yours is really the size of a toaster oven, I'd expect it to be much lower power, so it would take longer to heat a cup of water than mine would, and larger units would probably take less time than mine.
Look for a manufaturer's lable on it - that should specify at least the input power, which you can then compare with other ovens.
