The availability of some special stuff for boat in China might still be a problem but right now you could nearly get everything here. Where I am living, in the down town there are quite a few Walmarts, Samclubs, Carrefour and other supermarkets in which you could buy lots of things. You could also go to Hongkong and buy in the shops around the marinas there and just carry them into China. Some of my clients used to do so and it worked well.
Another problem is that like in the other countries, there are good builders as well as bad ones in China . Lots of boat builders here which claims that they could build a yacht based on their understanding of local boats they have been building but it takes some time and efforts to locate the right one and make sure the construction up to the standard from the very beginning.
I did take one of my clients, an English who is now living in Maylasia to Seahorse yard a few weeks ago and their boats looks lovely.
Yours truly
James Georgechen
