Try hanging a few CD's you don't like (Michael Jackson or Kenny G or anyone of
that elk) from a mast or spreader. This works on Barn Swallows (they hang
around marinas and nest under the docks here in the NE)

    >Ok Marin, I hear yah but as a pilot, I would just as soon keep the
beach chickens out of my windscreen and feed them stale bread in the
      next marina over from mine.

I have had Bald Eagles (the world's dumbest bird after the Sage Grouse)
fly directly at and challenge the de Havilland Beaver I was flying,
I've had vultures refuse to alter their soaring circle to accommodate my
approaching plane to the point where I had to maneuver to avoid them.
But I have flown unavoidably through huge flocks of seagulls while
landing and never hit a single one. Their ability to maneuver out of
the way of other things in the air is phenomenal to see.
