Yes, the tin can antennas are directional, very directional. I was spacing
about the fact that the issue was access at anchor. I was stuck in the
"marina mindset".
One thing to keep in mind when determining antenna style, size, mounting,
etc. At the higher frequencies that WiFi uses, the skinny little cable
usually supplied with the consumer antennas is pretty lossy. One must
balance the gain of the antenna with the lose of the cable. Still, as
others have stated, they are an improvement. Just don't mount it at the top
of the mast. :)
