I realize "powerful" wasn't the right word, and I'm certainly not anything
close to an antenna expert. But I'm pretty sure a 12dB omnidirectional
antenna has a longer range than a 6dB omnidirectional antenna, which has a
much longer range than the little 1/4" antenna on the WiFi card. The tin
can antennas are directional, I believe.
