I received three replies off-list. There were no viable suggestions, but in
all fairness, I don't think I was clear on what I wanted. After a lot of
searching I decided that there was no good ISP in the Eastern Carribean with dial-up
acccess in most (or even some) of the islands.
Those who did had rates comparable to satellite ($1.50/min)

So, I will keep my account with Stratosnet, and access it via Iridium when
going ashore isn't an option, but it's only viable for email. Using Iridium for
web access is so painful as to seem useless, especially after recently leaving
my cable modem with speeds upward of 3Mbps. Looks like I'll just have to
visit cybercafes until I get back to the States; I'm currently using a Sierra 555
air card and Verizon Wireless here in the US. It's OK, and bound to get
    better.

Insofar as email, I will transition from AOL to POP3 and webmail accounts
which I set up today on my personal domain. I use DirectNIC; I had been using it
only for forwarding for a couple of years and I'm happy with the service.

One thing I did find out - I can call Trinidad on my Verison Wireless cell
for $0.65/min. That's cheap, but still almost twice as much as a Sam's club AT&T
card. Too bad it doesn't work the other way around!
