    They are reinforced with a winding of stainless steel to keep them from
    collapsing!!! Automotive hoses wound with mild steel will soon have the
    steel coroded and will collapse under suction from a/c, generator, engine
    and any other pump sucking sea water for cooling purposes or to discharge
    from the bilge. If you want to depend on Pep Boys, be my guest, but to
    reccomend someone else do that is irresponsible. Marine hose cost more for
    a reason. It's made for the marine environment.
