I have been reading the "debate" about what to use for this application. Were I to be replacing what I have, I would be hunting for the "industry standard." However, I am (1) not replacing, and (2) do not have all wire-reenforcement. What I do have on my mains, and MAY have come with the boat 32 years ago, is hard (but not as hard as PVC) black plastic piping from the sea cocks to sea strainers and then the accepted reenforced hose from strainer to raw water pump.

My 7.5 Onan is happy with un-reenforced hose and dosn't seem to suck it in at all.

    Just another input.
