    Phil, I'm surprised that you haven't seen all the types of reinforced hoses
    that are available. Some brands have wire reinforcing which is seperate from
    the hose material...just sort of inserted after the hose is made. These, of
    course, would not last long in salt water. There are, however, types that have the
    wire imbedded in the hose material. These have no wire-to-water exposure at
    all, and should be satisfactory for use in salt water. It will be best, of
    course, to have one of these be the correct length, with an un-ribbed section at
    each end, so it wouldn't be necessary to cut to length, thereby exposing the
    wire to the water.
