I am contemplating a trip to SE Alaska (from Anacortes, WA) next summer
via the Inside Passage. It will be my first time making the trip, so I'd
like to read books or cruisiing guides that describe the journey.
I would appreciate suggestions for such material that people on the list
have found useful, enlightening, or entertaining.

I like Waggoner and Northwest Boat Travel because they update them every
year and they are reasonably priced. Douglass' books are very popular,
maybe too popular. We have heard from Canadians that they do not
appreciate that Douglass names things to his liking rather than
consulting locals.
Do not forget Coast Pilot and Sailing Directions. Most of the guide
books use this information as a starting point. You can use them to
find "Douglass-free zones", i.e. hideaways that are not in the
guidebooks.
Have fun. Hope to see you along the way.
