'Lo All,
I made my own chain claw when I had the old 46' sailboat which had an
all-chain rode as well as a nylon/chain rode. The claw was made out of 3/8"
flat steel. I cut the steel with a torch, ground off the residual slag to
make it smooth, heated and bent the two "fingers" to make the claw and made
sure it fit the chain. I drilled a 5/8" hole and installed a clevis with a
1/2" bolt/pin. The whole thing ended up about 3" x 8" x 3/8" thick. I
painted it, just to make me feel good. I used it for about 10 years. The
paint wore off and it ended up with surface rust. It was one of my better
investments in time and materials.
YMMV
Take care and be safe.
