Ron, I used to think that- but see my post regarding my concern for a
sudden break in the snubber line causing a equally sudden load on the
chain - not a thing chain likes.

Hinckley taught me to use lighter (3/8) twisted nylon of about 10' for
extra
stretchiness on a working anchor. Were I to use 5/8" line, I would make
the
bridle longer for stretch reasons.
