    Reply: I had a 9.9HP on my 15HP rated 9' Caribe. I regreted that combination for 2 reasons. One the 9.9 4 cycle weighed 100 pounds. The other was that it was scary fast. I changed out the 9.9 for a 50 pound 2 cycle 5 HP and am more than pleased. It's hard to get on plane with one and will not with two; but it's much more satisfing.

    BTW, my new boat came with with 10' Caribe and 9.9 electric start 4 cycle. I haven't tried that combination yet, but still have the 5 hp if needed.
