The "tuna doors" on Seahorse are hinged at the bottom as well, but they are
at each end of the gaff pit, port and starboard. The inboard sides have shallow
steps molded in, which make it very easy to board from a dock as well as the
dinghy. The doors wedge into the bulwarks, and are retained by two over-center
latches atop the caprail. An adjustable 1/2" braided line suspends the doors
at whatever angle is appropriate. Because our side decks are high, these doors
make it much easier to board than deploying the boarding steps on the dock.
