Alright! I just checked several state's requirements and the word
registration is not used consistantly state to state. In fact, it wasn't
even used consistantly in one single states requirements. So based on the
few states that I looked at, none of the states required the display of
registration numbers (that doesn't mean they don't have to be registered in
some states). Many states require the display of registration decals, not
to be confused with registration numbers. Each states also made it clear
that CG Documented vessells can not be titled in their state.
I'm glad we don't have the option of federally documenting our cars. If we
did the states would require us to run license plates without numbers.
