The discussion about a washdown pump reminded me of an incident that occurred
this summer in Johnstone Strait in the PCNW when a trawler began taking on
water, presumably from a thru hull fitting, ant its bilge pumps were unable to
keep up. A vessel coming to assist had on board a 110 v sump pump which when
added to the bilge pumps stabilized the situation until additional help
arrived. The distressed vessel was able to supply the 110 from a generator,
    still above water.
Do any of you carry a trash pump to be used as an emergency bail out pump?
Would you use a gasoline operated unit (which is large, somewhat heavy, and
$$$) or one of these 110 V pumps which have a 2 inch outflow, and can pump up
to 60 gph at 5 feet, cost $220 or so?
