I'm not sure but I believe I've heard, seen somewhere that Detroit
recommends applying only minimal back pressure to their engines. Therefore
most are running without mufflers.
I hope I'm wrong about this as our boat has a DD and is noisy. We'd like to
do something to make it quieter but the above is what I've been believing
and have not pursued it.
As far as high quality windows-- there are several sources, just break out
the BUs. You will find them to be very expensive.

Especially if they have to be custom made. (At least to me $600-1000 per is
very expensive.)

for 99% of coastal cruising and can use either mitered or 3" radius corners,
