    I expect that the machine screws orginally screwed into tapped metal plates or into nuts embedded in the glass - you've probably removed the threads with your drilling, and the fine threads of the machine screws won't hold well in epoxy.

    You will have to use self-stripping - sorry, self-tapping sheet metal screws, or find some way to get to the underside to place nuts or a tapped metal plate to hold the machine screws.
