Greetings from the storm ravaged Perdido River;
I have a 45' Roughwater trawler that grounded itself next to the dock during
Ivan. The storm surge overwhelmed the stern and filled the boat with salt
water, covering the Perkins T6.354MGT 180 HP engine and all below deck
equipment. I think it was not submerged very long, as the boat was left
nearly high and dry as the surge receded, but it was then exposed to the air
for about a week.
I have pickled it but don't know if it was in time.
I will have to have it rebuilt, buy a rebuilt one (seems Trans Atlantic
Diesel has only a 135 HP version and a 215 HP version,) or re-power.
The insurance adjuster has yet to visit us (probably Mon or Tues) and I
would like to have some idea of what I would like to do before he tells me
what they would like to do.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
