Sly, I have several of those in the engine room of my 15 year-old Lien Hwa
CMY. Some work, some don't. They are not identified anywhere on the main
electrical panel and I have not yet bothered to connect any 12 volt
appliance to them, for as you say, none have this type of plug that I'm
aware of. Perhaps somewhere in Taiwan they use these receptacles for both
110 VAC and 12 VDC applications, although that's pretty silly it seems to
me.
If you have any 12 volt appliances you want to power from these receptacles,
yes I'd change the receptacles to something more commonly seen for 12 VDC
appliances, like the cigarette liter you mention.

Subject: T&T: 2 prong 12v receptacles
I have some two prong receptacles onboard that look pretty much like regular
110 except with out the 3rd prong for ground (in fact I had assumed they
were old 110v). But, these are supplying 12 volt. I have never seen these
before. I have only seen 12 volt delivered in the usual cigarette lighter
plug setup. Has anyone seen these before? What 12v products have this sort
of plug on them? I am thinking of removing them and putting cigarette
lighter type 12v outlets in their place. Any thoughts?
