    Snip...Recently purchased a Garmin 178C Chartplotter/Sounder w/remote
antenna option. Have a boat with upper and lower helms. I wish to use
chartplotter at either helm and am searching for the best way to install
device. I have checked for a splitter at Garmin with no luck....endsnip
    .
Thank you one and all who answered. Some suggested splitting antenna,
others suggested not splitting. While that is a partial solution to my
prob, the main one remains.... but let me clarify it. There is an 18 pin
connection which plugs directly into the back which handles all the power,
NMEA data, depth sounder data , and water temp probe data. Ideal solution
would be some sort of "Y" splitter which has two of these 18 pin
connectors on one end of the cable. Second best solution would be and
"extension cord" with female on one end, male on the other. This would
allow a somewhat simple transfer from helm to helm. Third would be to
build my own extension cable (if I could only find the ends) Lastly and
least desireable but doable with parts I have now would be to have a "pass
through" port from lower helm to upper where I could feed the whole cable
every time I switched helms (not very often really). Least desireable
because of clunkiness of it and it means a 1-1/2" hole in salon
overhead/flybridge deck. Checked out Garmin site, www.gpsdiscount.com (as
suggested) and have not found what I am looking for. The search
    continues....
    Thanks again,
