Here are my 2 cents worth on window tinting. I have added window tinting to
both my boats and several condos as well. I have used 3M products, and have
been very satisfied! It dropped the temperature a good 10 degrees. I did not
use it in th epilot house in First Forty as it had an overhanging roof and
reverse canted windows. I DID use it everywhere else. In Cinderella, I really
had to use it! I have a large 'skylight' over the galley and part of the
saloon, plus large windows on the sides. It was a GREENHOUSE! In the saloon,
the forward windows are also large and slanted well back. AFter much thought,
since there was SO much glass there, I did have the windows tinted, albeit
with a lighter tint. It too has worked well, however, with a steel boat and
inadaquate AC (the Dutch don't quite understand it!) the saloon still gets WAY
too hot in florida's 95 degree sun.
I did the front windows since I have never used the lower helm and if I do
it won't be at night! I would never try to install it myself, but have it
professionally done (then there should be a guarantee). It's not a job for an
amature! Consider professional installation money well spent! Just remember
one thing: You cannot see IN in the daytime, but you surely CAN at night!
