If you have room in the hose from the raw water pump to the HEX, put in a
small plastic strainer. That way the broken vanes end up in the strainer
rather than the HEX which can be a nightmare...

Ron,
Odds are very good that the impeller blades are in the heat exchanger. I
consider it SOP to dismantle the raw water cooling system if any impeller
blades are missing and have generally found all the pieces. That is my
penalty for waiting too long to change impellers. As for the cover plate on
my Jabsco pumps, I replaced the slotted head screws with SS socket head cap
screws (found with google search) and now use an allen wrench.
