I too was shocked at the price of common replacement parts for Onan Generators. I went to Northern Virginia Supply and they called WIX to see if they had compatible filters after they couldn't be found in their catalog. As it turns out they did and they were MUCH cheaper than the ONAN filters. Here's what I paid:
Fuel Filter (complete with drain) WIX-33392 $19.77 vs Onan's $50 price
Oil Filter WIX-51344 $6.15
I assume that Onan's pricing is so high due to the very limited aftermarket for these parts.
