>>>>Just finished changing the impeller - only 3 blades were left - god
knows where the others are - but touch teak I don't seem to have any
overheating issues at the moment. Not sure about Frank's idea of
changing the whole pump now after looking the thing over -- the bracket
that comes off with it, is tied into the senders, stop mechanism etc.
Plus it is still has 4 bolts and not much more accessible than the face
of the water pump. Those by the way are 8mm bolts and I found a socket
worked OK instead of a right angled screw driver.

I would strongly suggest going to the next thing along the raw water line
after the pump (oil cooler??) and finding the pieces to reconstruct the
shredded impeller. While I understand that many leave them but only bad things
can happen if you do. From cooking the motor if your not paying attention for
a minute to adding stress and wear over the long term from reduced raw water
flow to reduced effciency if you have a raw cooled turbo intercooler. Time
spent finded the pieces is well spent and it is usually not hard to get them
out. JMO
