Although there are more similarities than differences between Fortress and
Danforth HT anchors--they are somewhat different because of the materials and
    weight.

The Fortress has the advantage of being lighter to handle with comperable or
greater blade area. It also had the advantage of the "Mud" position. I feel
it has superior holding characteristics in mud and probably in soft fine
    sand.

On the other hand, the Danforth 35 HT is a wonderful anchor. It is very
strong (probably less likely to bend or self distruct if caught under a rock
or piece of coral). It also is better in harder sand, where weight makes a
    difference.

My advice--buy the Fortress 23, but keep the Danforth HT 35. I now own 4
Fortress and 3 Danforth anchors--plus two Deltas and a fisherman(more
ornimental currently). I use the Deltas as primary bow anchors, and take the
small Fortress as stern anchors--but have a large one as a storm anchor--or if
I get in mud where the plow type does not work well.
