I am also uncomfortable leaving the dockside water turned on when noone is
home. We turn it off when we leave for work, but sometimes we forget :-(.

I have been looking for an automated solution for shutoff. A timer isn't a
great solution due to varying work times. What I have been looking for is
an automated shut off arrangement that would allow water to flow for no
more than maybe an hour at a time. The valve startes counting down when
water begins to flow, and then resets when the flow ceases. If a pipe were
to rupture the most water we could take would be one hours worth. Side
benefit would be at least limiting the daughters teenage frieds showers to
    1 hour!

Has anyone run across a valve like above, or have a better suggestion?

    Thanks,

    Mike
