Do you usually use all 150' of the chain? If not, Just turn the anchor chain
around, e.g., fasten the end that used to be at the anchor to the rode, and
attach the other end to the anchor. Replace the shackle. If the suspect part
of the chain is not very much, just cut it off. I'd wash the nylon rode by
soaking in a tub of warm water with laundry detergent (no bleach!) and then
maybe a rinse with fabric softener. I do that with dock lines in the washing
machine on gentle cycle, but I imagine your anchor rode is too big for that.
