Over the years, I have used a large quantity of a lot of different paints,
including Brightside. IMHO, Toplac by Interlux is the very best one-part
paint I have used. It is very user friendly, flows out nicely, is hard,
abrasion resistant, has high gloss and very good gloss retention. Almost as
good as a two part LP, IMHO. I'm in my third season with it on Dreamer and
it is holding up quite well, with the three year old areas rivaling the
newly painted areas. That is hard to achieve with the typical one-part
topsides paints.
Good luck,

A two-part paint similar to Awlgrip is "Endura." Pretty easy to repair.
Like Awlgrip, it is a bit tricky to get the hang of if tipping and rolling.
I have never even tried spraying, which can be an artist's undertaking.
The folks in shipyards who spray either brand in large quantities are pretty
savvy about temperature, humidity, style, etc.
As to Brightside, I found it also a bit tricky to get the hang of. I now
use vertical strokes only, applied very thinly, use 240 sandpaper inbetween
coats (for me, 220 leaves scratches). My best quality weapon when using
Brightside is my wife. I have her standing next to me with a flashllight,
inspecting for runs, drips, missed spots, etc. My experience with
Brightside is that you have a very short period of time to correct mistakes,
which I often can't see because I am already painting another spot. My
quality improved by a factor of 100% by getting her involved, and I think
she rather enjoys getting the painter to fix his goofs.
