    John,

I'm sure that I express the thoughts of all your friends on this list when I
say that we are very sorry that your fine new boat was damaged. But, no one
    was hurt.

The fellow who hit you is responsible - period. You can have your insurance
company talk to his insurance company or talk to his insurance company
yourself. My boat ago was hit two weeks by a large sailboat's shroud and it
knocked me out of bed where I was reading. That man and his family were gone
before I could speak with them! What an example to his kids. I gently
confronted him the next day and embarrassed him into coming over and showing
me what he asserted had happened. I got him to acknowledge that a gentleman
would have come over immediately. No real damage that I could see so I let
    it go.

I wonder if hit and run laws apply to marine accidents? You could ask
Maryland DNR. Have your insurance company get a surveyor to examine the
INSIDE of your bow to insure that there are no cracks. A color-matched
repair is expensive. You select the repair company. The insurance company
can recommend someone, but check references.

    | What is his or my responsibilities with the damage that happened to my
boat? Do the insurance companies handle who I go
    | to, or is that up to me? Does anyone know anyone who does good glass work
    in
    | the mid-chesapeake area? I need a bit of help to figure out what to do.
