We have sold a couple of these over this season. So far, so good.
One thing though. The power supply (brick) runs very hot and the
monitor itself runs warm at full bright setting. Many of our customers
like to tuck away the cords and power supplies to declutter the helm
area. I would be worried that tucking away or covering up that power
supply could shorten its life.
The monitor draws a fair amount of power (I forget the actual watts but
probably around 150 watts). So ships inverter and wiring need to
support that.
At full bright, the 1503 IS clearly viewable in a sunlit pilothouse.
The Solarism 1503 has a one year warranty so keep the box available to
send it back if it should fail.
The 1503 has an amazing array of alternative video input capabilities
which might fit into various boat theater strategies out there.

I want to add myself to the list of satisfied users of this VERY bright
monitor: Solarism LM 1503. 800 nits vs. 250 of a normal laptop. About
$500. Not marinized, but great in the pilothouse.
