    Ted,

    1. To celan bowl ... Remove four screws at the flange between the bowl and
metal body. Lower / remove the bowl ... gasket should remain in place and
can typically be re-used. Internal turbine / cyclone body can be disassembled
/ re-assembled for cleaning, too. No parts need to be replaced with new
ones, at least that's been my experience. Just re-assemble it all.

    2. For smooth fuel / water draining ... If all you have is the black nylon
(?) drain fitting, I think your task is close to hopeless. For about $35
Racor sells a nice brass petcock valve. It replaces the black bottom fitting
and is worth EVERY penny. The petcock comes with a hex bolt as safety feature
to prevent leaking (if any) of petcock into the bilge. I finger tighten the
hex bolt in place after draining, so that I can use the petcock next time
without having to fumble for a wrench. In 600 engine hours, none of my three
hex bolts have vibrated loose / off using this procedure.
