T&T: Generator recommendations

Well, it looks like we're going to do something about our old Onan MDJB.
Worked great 3 weeks ago. Dumped volts this past w/e (again). It's one of
these old units that has a magnaciter vs. voltage regulator. Power-Tronics
makes a retrofit kit but can't sell to the general public anymore. The
(favorite explanatory word) people in my area really don't know gennys and
are not of much help. Motor runs great, just poor voltage regulation. We
do want to add another a/c for the upper salon, which would mean we need at
least a 10kw for this anticipated update next year.
Question is: Does anyone have recommendations as to what brand we should
get? (also, if anyone has a good RTO 8 to 12.5kw to get rid of??) I've
heard Fisher Panda has some quality issues. Northern Lights (our
preference) is expensive. KiloPak looks interesting but they do not have a
dealer in my area (N Chesapeake Bay). Brands such as Norpro, Isuzu (no
mention of brand name for electrical end), Tropical Diesel (I think the same
as Isuzu) I can find info, but have no idea of reputation. 9K for a NL is
really out of our budget at this time. An Isuzu gen is about 5K for a
12.5kw. We may be able to swing that.
So what do the powers to be say? Feel free to respond off list if need be.
Also, anyone have a good electrical end that would fit my MDJB that's more
updated than ours (1969) that would bolt to our powerplant?
    Appreciate any insight.
    Chris
