To the person looking for FL boat yards where you can do- it-yourself, there
are several. The one in Indiantown comes to mind first...at the eastern end of
lake Okachobee. YOu can also live aboard. I don't want to be stuck there
town-wise, but a lot of people seem to love it. There is a new one in
Charlotte County roughly opposite PUnta Gorda. Email me off line for the name,
it escapes me. I think that Ft. Myers Boat Yard also allows DIY and there's
one on the Calussahatchee R east of Ft. Myers, known as the local 'hurricane
hole' where lots of boaters put their boats over the season. Miles from
anywhere though.
