T&T: Electronic dependency

    I competely agree with previous posts, I like the old school aproach to
    diesel engine controls. I think we are the exception to the average boat
    owner in that we have a desire to know how to keep them running and older
    mechanical things are easier for us to understand. However, most people that
    can afford a new half million dollar plus boat don't have the skills
    required nor the desire to work on a diesel engine. I still think the newer
    technology has increased reliability, at least overall. For myself, i like
    old 2 stroke detroits, and am confident in my ability to keep them running.
    For my wife or daughter, with no mechanical skills whatsoever, a new
    electronic diesel would be just as good, they cant fix it anyway, so they
    may as well have the better economy and quieter, cleaner running engine.
