I am sure that my battery cable installation is as good as I have ever seen
on any boat I have
visited. Anyone following my procedures for installation should be quite
well off, battery cable wise.

Correct!
The case being that Rich is aware of and pays attention to the little
details that makes a difference.
My post was aimed at the people who perhaps does not have a background like
Rich or myself who might conclude that because we get away with it then
they can too without being as careful to do the detail work correctly.
In addition, there are any number of used boats being purchased by first
time owners.
We are getting into an area of expertise where even "accredited surveyors"
do not always have the requisite expert knowledge.
I often work with owners who are not necessarily interested in doing all the
work themselve, but who want to be knowledgable enough to assess when and
what needs to be upgraded and who want to be able to judge for themselves if
the work being done by others is in fact conforming to the standards.
