Scott,
I am very well pleased with Wynne.
I am fortunate in that their plant is about a two hour drive from me. Before
I ordered our first set we visited the operation so we could see the product
and how they are made. We dealt with Ben McGuire and he showed us thru the
manufacturing process and explained what they needed in the way of
templates.
Its not a real large shop. Probably 35-40 employees. They have a big
inventory of extrusions and plain glass. I've always requested tempered
glass which they have to special order because they are not equipped to cut
and temper glass. They do cut plain and laminated. As a side note it was
interesting how they cut laminated. I thought that laminated glass couldn't
be cut but they do it regularly.
I was interested in learning what I could because the first windows we
replaced were pretty large ones, 30" high by 72" wide trapezoidal shaped
sliders. Larger windows can be problem if they are as my mother would say,
"flimsy".
Ben's tour and seeing other windows that they had in process convinced me
they could do the job.
They have always given firm quotes and delivery dates and shipped on time.
Now so this doesn't sound like a Wynne Industries commercial, while I
haven't seen a lot of the higher priced windows I expect that the Wynne
product is a little "rough" by comparison. The frames needed a little
deburring, particularly around the drilled holes. The corners are not
welded, they are held together with what I'll call angle brackets and then
sealed with an epoxy looking sealant.
If anyone wants to take a look, I have a couple of pictures of our first
install that I will e mail to anyone requesting them directly.
Unless something happens to change my mind, we will be ordering more from
Wynne as we replace others.
Bill
