    Harry and all,

This spring, the starboard upper helm shift lever on the Celestial started
to get hard to shift, while the lower helm was fine. The controls are
"daisy chained", in that the upper control moves the lower control which
then moves the engine controls as yours are (the other common method is to
run both cables directly to the engine). Upon taking the units apart, it
became obvious that the upper helm cable was binding up in the lower helm
control unit. Surprisingly, it took very little "binding" to completely
lock the upper helm control system due to the lever-arm angles involved.
All that was required was to lubricate the system. Now, both controls at
    both stations are free.

    YMMV

    Take care and be safe.
